CONFIDENTIALITY

​

Information given by parents/carers to me will be dealt with strict confidentiality. Please, let me know of any changes in your child’s circumstances. I do not pass or share information to other parties unless you have given your consent.

 

Details are stored, locked in a secure and individual folder. A password has also been set up to prevent unauthorized access.

Parents can easily have only access to their child’s record. This can be done on demand at any time.

I will not disclose or comment any information regarding a child to a parent which is not the legal guardian. I will inform/ ask for your consent and register with the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act 1998 if I need to store sensitive information on computer.

 

I recognise that all matters regarding safeguarding children are confidential. Please be aware that as required by the law, I must divulge confidential information to Local Authorities, Social Services, Police, Ofsted, if there is any child protection issue. (Please see Safeguarding policy.)

Ofsted or the Local authority of Camden may request to see my records at any time.

You will also find out confidential information about my family and me during our working relationship, and I would be grateful if you too would respect my family’s confidentiality and not repeat what you may have been told to other parties.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

​

The health and safety of children in our care is our first priority. Even though, I encourage children’s independence and let them explore their environment, my first thought is always for their safety. 

First Aid 

I am prepared to deal with any accidents that may occur. I have a full paediatric first aid certificate.

Suitable environment  

The toys and equipment are selected for the age and development of the children. Children are encouraged to think about their own safety by asking to tidy up after playing. 

Risk assessments 

Every morning, I carry out a risk assessment before children come to ensure an optimum safety.

Toys and equipment are regularly checked and clean to keep them in good condition.

Any broken or hazardous toys will be removed immediately.

Secure entry

Access is only given to known persons and visitors are escorted by me. Although, there is an interphone, please make sure you shut all doors behind you as you enter or leave the premises.

Trips and outings

Risk assessments are always carried out in advance for each outing to ensure the health and safety of children all times. Depending on the circumstances; I may use a safety harness…

Kitchen

Children are not allowed in the kitchen area at any time. (Except for helping cook or similar activities) Everyone must wash their hands before handling foods, prior to lunch, after toilet…

I follow guidelines of food hygiene to prevent incidents with food.

Bathroom / Toilet

Products and medicine are kept out of reach of the children.
